MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just visited a blogger who calls himself a "true believer" bashing Christians for being upset about the efforts to eliminate the phrase, "Merry Christmas" from the public square. Apparently he forgot the percentage of Christians living in this country and the name of the holiday. After that very discouraging visit, I am hoping saying the following will prove therapeutic:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel better already. And I would feel even better if everyone who sees this would leave a comment wishing me a Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! I should get some of those Merry Christmas buttons.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isn't Jesus wonderful? I sure do love Him! I'm currently reading about his birth again in Luke. Ironic that I read this guy's post right when I'm reading the Christmas story in my personal Bible devotions this week. I am in awe of the humility displayed by our King . . . Maybe I'll do a post on it soon! In the meantime, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I don't know if this is happening in your neck of the woods, but I have heard Christmas Music already. And, currently, I hear a lawn mower outside.
Did you know that Christmas was a forbidden holiday in some parts of early American History? I believe it was in Massachusetts. For good reason though. I am not certain of when I will do a blog on this. But, I think I will.
Merry Christmas!
I have considered your blog to be a team effort with Greg. So, I have not been visiting with link opportunities, because I figured you would get your links from him.
However, now that I can see he is benefitting from your blog ;) I feel I should ask if you would like to exchange hosting a link?
Let me know

Jim,

I am definitely in agreement that Christmas is being commercialized WAY too early. Thanksgiving is virtually swallowed up, and it's such a lovely holiday for remembering the pilgrims and giving thanks for our numerous blessings.

Yes, I am aware of some controversy surrounding Christmas. I know that some get upset over it not being the actual day Jesus was born, some are disturbed by the emphasis on materialism, the false gunk added in (Santa), and some do not like the traditions with pagan origins such as the Christmas tree, etc. This doesn't stop me from enjoying many of the traditions I grew up with. We do not do these things for Satan's glory. We do them as something fun for our family. I believe very strongly in "family fun." If I felt any guilt from my Lord I would surely stop. :-)

Normally I would not do a Christmas post until December. However, I made this post not to begin Christmas hype early, but in response to a post that made me sad. I really wanted to express my feelings on this, and it has been nice seeing “Merry Christmas.” It truly has.

My blogging has reached a comfortable place in which I am no longer actively "seeking" new blogs to read. If I read many more, I will need to leave off reading others. In fact, I have already begun to stop reading some blogs that are not central to my own personal interests and already have plenty of readers supporting them. I am always glad to try and take a look, but I can't promise to check out new blogs due to time restraints. I am also getting extremely picky, also due to limitations on time.

Please do not think me a feminist or anything. I am not. But I am not inclined to add men's blogs to my list simply because for the most part, I think most of my blogging should be with women. It's hard to explain. I hope you can read between the lines and understand this. I still read some men's blogs and link to a few. But only a very few.

I don't always read the comments on my husband's blog. My name is on his blog, but I consider that one to be his, and I don't follow his as closely as my own. He also has his own e-mail account that I don't read which notifies him of new comments.

BTW, I am going to try and read your very long post soon. :-) In all honesty, I would LOVE to read more posts by a Christian with insight on history and archeology, which I think you are interested in as well. We'll see if I have time!

Although I'm rather Bah-Humbug-ish until at least after Thanksgiving... since you asked for it, I'll go ahead and wish you "Merry Christmas!"

Ha.

Thanks Farrah,
That is fare.
My motives are for ministry. That is how I use my blog. "Journaling For Growth" was created as a way for me to store my studies as well as share them. However, more importantly, when I closed my manuscript (Love One Another), I wanted something that would help me to continue to promote my manuscript (Love One Another). So, the more links I can host, the more I can ask someone to host my link, which will link back to 'Love One Another'.
Thanks for the reply.
Jim

That makes sense! :-)

I think you make a good point, Farrah. That Christmas gets commercialized does NOT mean it is not a Holy Remembrance to Christians. And if people are cordial and kind at Christmas time only, that's still better than never at all! You probably know that in 1914 the soldiers in France declared a Christmas truce. Perhaps the death toll was a few less because of that. Merry Christmas to you and all yours!

We LOVE Christmas! My husband and I have been looking forward to it for a month now....we even read some Christmas books to our baby before Halloween. Hubby's also been trying to get me to sing Christmas Carols already, but I haven't gone that far yet..lol. :)

Thanks for stopping by my site and leaving a comment!
