Thursday Thirteen: Christmas

This seems like a good time for a Thursday Thirteen!

13 Things We Do During the Christmas Holiday
1. Decorate inside and out
2. Shop for and wrap presents
3. Prepare an advent calendar for our son
4. Watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music
5. Make and send cards
6. Purchase gifts for several charities *
7. Make our annual candy
8. Give goodies and sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas to the neighbors on our cul-de-sac
9. Usually add a new holiday themed children’s book to my collection
10. Sometimes see The Nutcracker ballet live (pic below)
11. Celebrate with family and friends
12. Hear the story of Jesus’ birth read from the bible
13. Marvel at the love and mercy of our wonderful God!

This was Kylen's first year to attend a real ballet. He was definitely too young! Bored out of his mind! (I had a great time!) But we ALL enjoyed eating at an upscale Chinese restaurant beforehand. Don't worry! He had help with dessert!

*See previous post for ideas. :-)

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your comments on my blog. It is also inspirational to see the way some Christians have been enabled to overcome serious trials in life instead of being beaten down by them. God bless you and all yours.

I remember having to take an entire first grade classroom to see The Nutcracker (for several years in a row) when I taught school.
An awful experience! lol

Farrah,

I just read Nutuba's latest post and he talks about going to a Mexican restaurant, but is eating hot cakes. That desert your son is hovering over doesn't look like any desert I've ever seen in a Chinese Restaurant. Strange. I gained a couple pounds looking at it though.

I have a question from your last post. You say "pick a gift for a child from the giving tree at a store". I don't think I've ever seen such a thing. Can you explain it a bit, although I think I have the idea? Is it a regional thing, I wonder, or perhaps I'm just not observant enough when I shop.

Thanks,

larry E.

Hello friend! I feel so terrible about not being online to keep in touch on your blog! Things have been so crazy around here that I have not had any time for blogging! It has been fun to read your blog and catch up! I hope you will still stop by to say hello. :) Have a beautiful Christmas!
