Camping

So far, we've been a once/year camping family.  This summer, we were going to be brave and try going twice, but our second round got cancelled.  It's probably just as well, because I was pretty worn out from the first round!  But it was a great trip, and I'm very glad we went.

We have been blessed to go camping with someone different each year.  Two years ago, we were introduced to camping by our friends, the Cooks.  They are seasoned campers, and their extensive experience was perfect for helping us relax on our first try out.  We were spoiled by their cooking supplies and the bathrooms with indoor plumbing (showers too!).  I think the highlight was geocaching, something we'd never done.  Riding in their big SUV on bumpy roads was awesome!

Last year, we camped with the Seeleys next to a river.  We spent most of our time in the water and realized that, for us, swimming is a required ingredient!  They had a pretty sweet setup.  We were on private property with a beach area all to ourselves, complete with dock and slide!  There was a sink with running water right next to the bathroom.  It was ideal in many ways.

This year, we camped with my aunt and uncle's family next to Priest Lake.  It was probably the most rustic setup yet!  My next several posts will cover the two days we spent there.  It's been really neat seeing how each family does things and picking up different ideas and tips from each one.
