Pizza, Basketball, and Video Games

It started out as pizza and bowling, but our house was clean, and we ended up with an excess of chocolate milk that did not get drunk when we had company over a few days ago.  So, of course, we had to invite them to our house, and that doubled the fun!

Funny thing happened.  Greg kept fussing, trying to get his straw in and finally figured out there was no hole.

Greg won the first game, but it was close.

Eric won the second game, but Greg finished strong with a triple strike!

Telling me about what he's going to build.  :)

Yes, we had to get in Smash Bros.

My Brother's Family

We had my brother's family over last weekend.  It was wonderful getting to see him, his beautiful wife, and their sweet little girl.  Looking forward to next time!  I don't know how I managed to not get any pics of us playing Smash Bros.  Guess I was too busy battling!!

Fresh Pizza from an Outdoor Oven

We went to our city's farmer's market last weekend.  :)  Also got crepes and a pie.

My Sister's Family

My sister's family spent the evening with us recently, and we really enjoyed our time with them.  We had dinner, hung out in the yard, and played Smash Brothers.

Satay Bistro

To me, part of summer break is trying out a few new restaurants.  I compare each one to my current favorites, and if it doesn't measure up, we don't return!  Seems like we've had more misses than hits lately, but Satay Bistro was a hit . . . at least for me and Greg.  :)

The elegance of the interior surprised us.

You definitely want to dress up for this place!  We felt grossly underdressed in our t-shirts and jeans.

The fondue is worth trying once, and the baked brie was very good.  The chicken gorgonzola was extremely rich but delicious.  Greg didn't like his duck much, and Kylen didn't care for his stuffed chicken, but their desserts completely made up for it.  We ordered the bread pudding and raspberry sorbet, both of which were excellent.  Greg and I would like to go back and try a couple other entrees (and of course get dessert again!), especially the steak, which is highly recommended.

Champagne Grapes

Greg discovered a fun snack: champagne grapes!  You just knock off all the tiny grapes from the stem (much faster than with larger grapes, since they come off with very little force), and eat them with a spoon!  The varying levels of sweetness balances out, and the texture is interesting: little balls of sweetness popping in your mouth!

Sermon We Listened to Today: Francis Chan

What especially spoke to me in this one was the part about life during retirement.  He starts talking about it at 14:30.  :)
