Wishing wells…
Wishing stars…
Three wishes from a Genie…
Santa’s good list…
Making a wish before I blow…
None of these have worked for me.
What does work is Wish Lists. I invented them out of sheer desperation. You see, for several months leading up to Christmas, every time the phone rings it’s someone asking what to get Greg for Christmas. OK, that’s a slight exaggeration. Still, it was enough to drive me insane. About a month after Christmas is my son’s birthday. You get the idea.
I made four documents on our computer and put them in a folder conveniently titled “Wishlists.” One for each of us and a fourth for all of us. Besides providing a treasure trove of ideas when family/friends ask the inevitable question, the lists have proved beneficial in other ways.
Best of all, it wipes out any excuses from Hubby, “I didn’t know what to get you.” *winkwink!*

This is a fantastic idea! I cannot hold all of that peripheral type of info in my brain. I keep a notebook in the car, I should definitely use it to jot down gift ideas.
We use Amazon.com and the wish list feature there. It's a fun way to keep track of gifts and you never know when a friend or relative might buy you a treat. :)

That is a great idea! I need to use that one in my family!
It's a great idea and one I have used myself:)
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
I took it a step farther, I put it on the website my family checks for pictures of the kids, that way if I'm not at home to look at the list, when people ask I can just say "oh it's online, just go to xyz site", now that I'm blogging I keep meaning to switch it (or at least link it) to my blog, but hasn't happened yet. The old site's still active, so it's low priority LOL.
Excellent idea! We've done that before. It's very handy.
