July 4th 2017

We started 4th of July at our city's parade!  Greg and Kylen walked with their theater group.  I was glad my uncle's family and his in-laws were able to come sit with me.  :)

Kylen and Greg in their costumes.

It's a lovely small town parade with lots of bicycles, kids, and golf carts.

Here they come!  Can you spot Kylen and Greg?  (Hint: they are waving flags!)

The Cow Pie Posse put on quite a show, definitely a crowd favorite!

Lunch at Red Robin.

We came home, played games, and drove to the school to meet back up with my uncle's family for fireworks.  Our neighbors ended up sitting next to us too!  The fireworks were so close, it was a little scary but exciting.  That may be the most we've ever enjoyed them.  :)

The 4th

July 4th was a gloriously beautiful day.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  We spent the evening at a friend's house, ate dinner outside, shot fireworks, and visited LOTS.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Their dog appeared to be guarding the lightsticks!  Lol!

Their VERY creative son had an elaborate system of chalk paths on the driveway, including a spot designated for fireworks!

Independence Day

Our last couple of 4th's were frightfully dull, so I was determined this one would be different.  Boy, was it ever!  We started our morning rushing to line up for the Coeur d'Alene parade.  Karla had invited Hubby and Sonshine to walk with a group of homeschoolers in honor of local WWII veterans.  I sat on the sidelines clapping, taking pictures, and basking in the most perfect weather imaginable.  Afterwards, we temporarily parted ways with the Cooks and went in search of food.  Thankfully, we found a small sandwich joint that wasn't too crowded!  Three hoagies later, we stopped to get ice cream and made our way to a park.  There we spent a couple of delightful hours with the Seeley family: our former pastor Eric, his wife, and three children.  Next was napping downtime at home, and then on to wind up the day with partying in Karla's backyard!  We were happily joined by her two children, parents, her friend Jan (who organized the parade group), and Jan's son.  A couple other homeschooling friends arrived later in the evening.  Besides wonderful food and company, there was entertainment by way of their dog's antics with a soccer ball.  AND fireworks!  It was the fabulous, full day I was hoping for!
